Assassin's Creed Unity - Vive la France!

It would seem that the Assassin's Creed franchise has fallen into the Call of Duty schedule of yearly releases. And when the last year's installment was as good as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, that's an easy idea to get behind. And what's better is that this long-running open world megafranchise is making its way to the next generation of video game consoles.

1789, France. The city of lights is tearing itself to pieces. The French Revolution is in full swing, and the streets run red with the blood of its people. It is not a good time to be a Frenchman. But as always, there is hope.

Enter Arno, a young man who has royally screwed up and suffered a tremendous loss as a result. And like all heroes in this franchise, he answers injustice with savagery. Naturally, his quest will take him across Paris in this tumultuous time, into the direct (and indirect) path of historical figures and famous events. But there are differences.

Assassin's Creed Unity is being billed as a "reinvention," with the new Anvil engine providing the power under the hood. But it's not just a prettier face we're looking at; the three main pillars of gameplay that have defined this series since its inception have been retooled for a better experience.

And it gets even better: Unity features a number of story-driven cooperative missions that can be played with up to three friends. All will play as agile killing machines, but special co-op skills keep things from being too predictable or symmetrical.

Finally, we have some goodies to announce. The Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed Unity will include a 16" Arno figurine (perched atop a gargoyle, no less!), a music box that plays a remixed version of the main theme, the official soundtrack, an art book, and two in-game missions.
